Low-fat Foods: Friend or Foe?

Written by Sarah Park

Magnified Nutrition Label Fat has a bad reputation because most people don’t want a large belly, cellulite, or clogged arteries. We don't blame them, but most
people don’t realize that not all fats lead to weight gain and other health issues.  It is eating the wrong kind of fat.

Experts are arguing that it's healthier to eat and drink products with all of the fat left in. When products are void of their original fat it takes away the food’s flavor. To compensate for the lost flavor, food manufacturers will add sugar, salt, and other fillers which turn otherwise healthy foods into less healthy food and even junk food.

Bottom line? Instead of eating low-fat or no-fat foods, be smart about eating “good” fat. Fat consumed from a whole unprocessed source such as avocados, dairy products, olive/coconut oil, and fish can help promote satiety which will result in eating less calories overall. Fat is also essential for bodily functions such as powering the brain!
